The Birchwood at Brambleton campaign set out to challenge every cliché about active adult living. Forget the beige brochures and golf-cart stereotypes—this community is alive with energy, color, and personality. Van Metre Homes wanted to show that “55+” doesn’t mean slowing down; it means having the freedom to do more of what you love.
To bring that spirit to life, the campaign featured real Birchwood residents captured in bold, joyful portraits by photographer Jim Vecchione. Each resident was photographed against vibrant, colorful backdrops, doing the things that make them feel most alive—gardening, cycling, painting, dancing, laughing. The result was a gallery of authentic, intimate images that radiated individuality and joy.
The messaging and visuals worked together to break the stigma of active adult communities being “old and boring,” instead positioning Birchwood as a place full of vitality, creativity, and connection. Every portrait told a story—proof that life at Birchwood isn’t about retiring, it’s about re-igniting.
Birchwood by Van Metre Homes—where life stays vibrant, and community never gets old.
