DC Lottery:
Intervention

Bad days happen to the best of us. The soda explodes as soon as you open it. The grocery bag breaks halfway up the stairs. You step right into a fresh pile of—you know what. Sometimes the universe just piles it on.

That’s where the DC Lottery’s “Intervention” campaign steps in.

Built around the idea that a small win can turn even the worst day around, Intervention uses humor and everyday misfortunes we all recognize to remind people that joy doesn’t always have to come in jackpot-sized doses. Sometimes, winning just a few dollars is all it takes to flip your mood from “why me?” to “hey, maybe today’s not so bad.”

Through a series of playful spots and visuals, the campaign stages funny “real-life interventions” at the exact moment things go wrong—a lottery ticket appearing like a wink from the universe. Each story captures that universal truth: while life can get messy, it’s nice to know a little bit of luck might be waiting around the corner (or at your corner store).

Because everyone deserves a win now and then—even if it’s just enough to make your day slightly less terrible.
